Bread & butter pudding
Serves 4.
Ingredients
- 6 slices of old bread
- Butter or margarine, enough to cover the bread slices
- 3 tbsp of dried fruit (sultanas, raisins etc)
- 2 free-range eggs
- 300ml milk
- 50g sugar
Method
- Butter the bread and cut the bread diagonally. Place half the bread on the bottom of an ovenproof dish.
- Sprinkle the bread with the dried fruit. Place the remaining bread over the top.
- Beat the egg with the milk and pour over the bread. Leave to stand for 30 mins.
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180C for 30 mins. Good source of iron and protein
